Big Brother

Like the mission Overwatch, Big Brother cannot be played in Single Player. A second player must be present for this Special Op to be selectable. You may play locally with a partner, or use a respective online service (such as Xbox LIVE or the Playstation Network) to accomplish this Special Op. The concept of the mission is that one player is a foot soldier, serving in the US Army Rangers, while the other player mans a Vulcan mini-gun mounted on a UH-64 Black Hawk. The initial LZ is too hot, and the gunner must cover the foot-soldier as they advance to a secondary LZ. This Op reuses the area from the Single Player mission 'Wolverines!' at the beginning of Act II.

Gameplay

This mission requires a lot of co-operation to complete, most notably on Veteran difficulty, as expected. The Ranger will begin armed with an M9 and SCAR-H, meaning that they are at a disadvantage to the sheer numbers of Russian Spetsnaz. The Black Hawk will move in the same pattern each time, so failing the mission may make things easier in the future, as you will know how the Black Hawk will travel. The gunner should perform most of the killing to minimize the risk of the Ranger being incapacitated. If the Ranger is killed, then the mission is immediately failed - there is no 'revive' function in Big Brother.

Initially the Ranger will start off near a house, from which several Spetsnaz will appear. The Black Hawk gunner may choose to deal with these targets, or allow the Ranger to eliminate them. Choose to use either one method - do not try both, as the Vulcan rounds have the same explosive radius as the 25mm gun mounted to the Chopper Gunner killstreak in online play, and can easily take the Ranger down.

The Special Op name 'Big Brother' is derived from George Orwell's infamous novel 1984. It was in this novel that the term 'Big Brother' was first coined, and it refers to an overseer of sorts which sees everything. In the novel it is used by a totalitarian government to control its populace.
The model used for the Ranger is that of the online Assault character (the Ranger model for a character with an assault rifle as its default primary).
The Vulcan gunner does not have a model - in the eyes of the Ranger, the Vulcan is firing itself.
