Steam updated their website » with a new in game screenshot and information on Modern Warfare 2. As Steam is an official partner with Infinity Ward/Activision, you will be able to enjoy Modern Warfare 2 with all benefits that Steam brings; including Steam Cloud:

This allows the game not be be limited to the hardware as it is on consoles, giving Infinity Ward the opportunity to make the game look even better as it does on consoles. Of course they can't go too far, leaving those with somewhat older hardware in tears... So if you're wondering if your computer will be able to run Modern Warfare 2 without any problems, this is the list of the minimal required (not recommended) hardware.
