Two is the magic co-op number

Catching up on Modern Warfare 2

Two is the "magic number" for co-op in Special Ops or MW2 would become a "clusterfuck", Robert Bowling confirms.

Today, Videogamer.com got word from Robert Bowling that "Spec Ops" (short for...) will have a maximum of two players:

When asked why Special Ops was limited to two players, not four, Bowling replied: “Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That’s when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf**k of things. We just found that two-players was the most fun.”

Thanks for letting us know Leroy, @philpil and Robert for Tweeting!

Catching up

We were getting used to seeing "big" news every day now for a while but I guess this is the day to take a breath. We've been using the time to correct little mistakes and add information where missing. Thanks again everyone for all the news tickets, corrections and compliments for this Modern Warfare 2 website! Please keep sending feedback, it's much appreciated.

Fire mode selector

On another note, while browsing the official Infinity Ward forums some things came up which we think should be explained just a little bit. One of them is the FAMAS. A dialer has been shown in the GameSpot Stage demo at the E3 2009 (around 11:00 min) and many thought this would be the fire mode selector. A fire mode selector is a little mechanism used to help prevent the accidental discharge or set a higher rate of fire on some pistols and assault rifles. The FAMAS assault rifle has 4 different modes: safety, single shot, burst mode and fully automatic. As you can see on the first image (to the left, d'oh) the dial has only 3 modes, 3 / 4 / 5. A couple of users over at the IW forums (theking124 and nhlducks35 just to name two) could tell us this is the range selector. The numbers stand for 100 meters (French weapon), so you can set your aim at 300m / 400m / 500m. By changing the selector from 3 to 5, the sights will be adjusted for longer range. To be honest we couldn't find any real life proof of this theory. We don't think it will be operational in the game, just wouldn't make sense with all the sight attachments available...

After a little bit of research, the second image shows the fire mode selector just in front of the trigger. Just under the buttstock is another selector knob, inside the hammer unit (bullpup weapon) as shown in the right picture.

-- Just found out I didn't even post that video! We'll try to find some time to update the site with this video too, could be tomorrow though. Total interview is about 15 minutes long.

Found another small promoshot that would make a beautiful wallpaper! Too bad it has such a low resolution... Anyhow, here it is:

Low resolution cover character Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2 goes Terminator?

And in other news, we've been updating other pages on this website too. Have a look at the new character page here. And what about the crazy news that there is a HIGH possibility for the Winchester 1887 shotgun in Modern Warfare 2? That's right, the Terminator 2 shotgun in Modern Warfare 2 (sorry, can't help but laugh). You can click on the left image to view the original promoshot where it's cut out of.

So, this must be it for today!
